Guardian Home Program
Here at Three Springs, we are dedicated to the preservation and responsible breeding of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Mini Bernedoodles. We believe dogs thrive in a family atmosphere and we believe every dog deserves a loving, dedicated forever family. Our goal is to provide high quality puppies across the USA and beyond, while avoiding a kennel atmosphere. We breed for health, conformation, temperament, and longevity. We like to breed from high quality lines, & our dogs are selected from across the US and also imported from overseas.
Becoming a guardian home allows you to house and then have a top notch or pick of the litter puppy that we have found suitable to be a part of our breeding program at no cost to you. They will be your family pet while he or she remains in our program for 4 litters for females or up to the age of 5 for both males and females. Three Springs Bernese LLC will retain all breeding rights and legal ownership until our contract is met. Once the breeding dog is retired, he/she will be spayed or neutered at our expense.
Guardian homes for females will be compensated $100/per puppy up to $600 per litter once puppies go home. You are welcome to schedule visits with us while your pet is here and play with her puppies. Guardian homes for males will be compensated $50 per stud job.
As a guardian home you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning a dog including: annual exams, vaccines, food, heart worm/flea & tick meds, grooming, etc. We will pay for all breeding related costs, including health testing.
We are seeking people who are responsible and believe in ethical breeding. Being a guardian is not for everyone. You must be willing and able to follow these requirements:
- Your dog must be taught basic commands and be well socialized
- Must be crate trained at minimum. Potty trained is a plus.
- Feed a breeder specified quality dog food
- All other dogs in your home must be fixed if they are the opposite sex
- Provide regular exercise
- Send copy of all vet records to the breeder
- Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs
- Provide vet care when needed
- Allow breeder to visit your home
- Contact breeder immediately in the event of serious injury, or illness and cover those expenses
- Must be willing to drop male dogs off for 3-5 days for breedings and females for 1-2 weeks for the breeding process & then drop her back off one week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are fully weaned at 6-8 weeks of age.
- Be able to communicate with us clearly and efficiently and provide regular updates and pictures or videos for social media content
- Preferably live within an hour of Coshocton County, Ohio
- In the occurrence of death or accident while with the breeder, breeder will pay for any vet care and will offer a replacement puppy at no cost of the guardian.
- Breeder is responsible for all breeding related costs, lab work, emergency c-section, etc.
